Laminating Machine Mat Adhesive:Why Foam Silicone Is Your Top Choice
Why foamed silicone gel is the preferred material for film laminating machine rubber pads
In the material selection for lamination machine mats, foamed silicone rubber has consistently ranked as the industry's preferred choice due to its versatile performance. Its core advantages can be summarized as four key characteristics: high-temperature resistance, excellent rebound, strong adaptability, and long service life. These properties perfectly match the harsh operating conditions of lamination machines, including high temperatures, high pressure, and repeated bonding processes, delivering more stable performance compared to conventional materials such as rubber, EVA, and PU.
✅ Core Strength Breakdown
Exceptional temperature stability, compatible with all operating conditions
During operation, the temperature of the laminating machine typically reaches 120-200°C, with special processes requiring tolerance to high temperatures up to 260°C. Foamed silicone gel can stably cover surfaces from **-40°C to 220°C** (special modified versions can withstand up to 260°C), maintaining rigidity without softening, carbonization, or adhesive adhesion over prolonged use. This prevents deformation of the rubber pad due to high temperatures, which could otherwise cause wrinkling or misalignment of the laminated film, thereby effectively addressing the pain point of high-temperature failure in conventional materials.
High rebound without collapse, zero error in adhesion
The high-elastic foam structure with Shore C hardness of 10-80 can rapidly respond to pressure variations in laminating machines. After repeated compression, it exhibits 99% rapid rebound, preventing film collapse-induced lamination bubbles and white spots while uniformly distributing pressure to protect laminating materials (films, papers, panels) from mechanical damage. This structure is compatible with substrates of varying thicknesses ranging from 0.05 to 3 mm.
Low viscosity with no residual adhesive, compatible with multiple materials
The surface is smooth and fine-textured, without chemical reactions with laminating adhesive or ink. After bonding, there is no residual adhesive, no fiber pull, and no contamination of the laminated material surface. It is compatible with the majority of substrates including PET, BOPP, PVC, paper, and metal sheets, effectively addressing issues such as adhesive failure and delamination during bonding with different materials.
Anti-aging and long lifespan, cost reduction and efficiency improvement
Resistant to ultraviolet radiation, ozone, and chemical corrosion, it is less prone to hardening, cracking, or aging with prolonged use, with a service life 3-5 times longer than conventional rubber pads. Additionally, it features uniform density, fine pores, and absence of impurities, reducing the frequency of machine shutdowns for pad replacement in film coating machines, making it suitable for mass production requirements.
Security compliance, compliant with industry standards
It meets UL94 V-0 flame retardancy standards, and RoHS environmental certification, complying with industrial equipment safety regulations. The product is odorless and non-toxic, meeting stringent requirements across multiple industries including electronics, food, packaging, and automotive interiors.
Technical Parameters

Quick Back Adhesive Model Selection: Precisely Match Different Scenario Requirements
We offer a wide range of back adhesive models that can be precisely matched according to the type of laminating machine, bonding material, temperature conditions, and production efficiency. Our solutions support die-cutting customization to meet both mass production and personalized requirements.
High-temperature silicone back adhesive is recommended for high-temperature applications (≥180°C); 3M 467MP/468MP is suitable for medium-temperature applications (120–180°C); general acrylic back adhesive is appropriate for low-temperature/ambient temperature applications.
For conformal materials: Low surface energy (powder coating, polypropylene) should use 3M 300LSE; Metal/glass/smooth plastic should use 3M 468MP; Foam composite should use Desa 88682.
Regarding production efficiency: For high-speed batch film lamination, ultra-thin substrate-free adhesive (3M 467MP) is selected for rapid bonding without adhesive overflow; for irregular or precision bonding, die-cut customized backing adhesive is chosen to ensure accurate positioning and minimize manual errors.
