According to the recollections of the living elders in the field of organosilicon and some historical records, the research and development of organosilicon products in China began in 1951, mainly to solve the moisture-proof problem of communication equipment on the Korean battlefield.
At that time, the Beijing Chemical Experiment Institute of the Ministry of Heavy Industry (the Ministry of Chemical Industry had not yet been established) formed an organosilicon research group to start the research and development of organosilicon materials. In addition, there is a personal introduction of Yang Donglin, one of the founders of organosilicon in China: Professor Yang Donglin, together with other colleagues, established China's first organosilicon pilot plant in 1950. Since then, he has undertaken many military-related research tasks. When the author interviewed Huang Wenrun, the former director of the Morning Light Research Institute and a heavyweight figure in China's organosilicon industry, the year he gave was either 1950 or 1951.
Although the exact time of its origin is unknown, it can be concluded that silicone originated in the Korean War and its research and development began in the early 1950s.
