1. Shore Hardness tester selection
Type A: Suitable for medium-hardness foamed silicone rubber (typical range 20-90 Shore A), such as automotive sealing strips, electronic potting compounds.O type: For ultra-soft materials (0-100 Shore OO), such as medical silicone pads and shock-absorbing foams. * Professional Basis * : According to ASTM D2240, samples with A thickness of ≥6mm should use type A, and materials with a thickness of < 6mm or extremely soft materials should use type OO.
2. International Standard Comparison - --
ISO 48-4: The test should be conducted at a constant temperature of 23±2℃, and the reading should be taken 15 seconds after the stylus contact time. ASTM D2240: A wider temperature range (±5℃) is allowed, but the ambient temperature and humidity need to be recorded. * Data Discrepancy * : The same sample was tested according to ISO and ASTM, and the result deviation was approximately ±3 Shore units (Source: Polymer Testing journal 2022 Study).
